The Washi Paper

The paper I use is just as important as the ink.

I work with authentic, high-quality paper made specifically for Japanese calligraphy. It has a beautiful texture and a natural absorbency that changes how the paper responds to the wet ink and the brush.

The choice of paper changes the final look of every piece—how the ink spreads, how crisp the lines are, and how the texture shows through. Using the right materials allows me to capture the clean lines and subtle details of each stroke properly.

For me, using traditional paper is a key part of respecting the craft. It ensures the artwork looks exactly as it should and will last for a long time.

Every piece is written on material chosen with care, from the weight of the paper to the quality of the surface.
