This piece features the character Wa (和), which means Harmony. It’s a Japanese concept about finding balance and living peacefully with our surroundings.
I painted this by hand using traditional black ink on smooth, lightweight paper. To give the work strength and a flat, professional finish, I have backed it with a second, thicker layer of paper using the traditional urauchi method. Because each stroke is made in a single movement, no two pieces are ever exactly the same. I hope this brings a quiet sense of calm to your space.
